Pearl Meldrum Training, one of Scotland's main providers of Pool Lifeguarding and First Aid.

All courses are run under Health and Safety standards and Governing Body standards (STA).
The courses provide the highest standards of teaching and assessing and are designed to be as flexible and enjoyable as possible.
Courses are available for individuals, and both public and private sector businesses.
Pearl Meldrum Training was formed in 1995 in response to the growing awareness and demand for Health and Safety training within the leisure industry.
The courses have been designed to meet the demands of the business sector, as well as individuals, wishing to gain recognised qualifications to gain employment.
All of the courses are tutored personally by Pearl Meldrum who has been a qualified Senior Tutor, trainer and examiner since the early 1980’s.
Courses are available throughout Scotland and can be structured to run on consecutive days or spread over several months.

The Swimming Teachers’ Association (STA).

Accreditations
The Lifeguard and First Aid @ Work courses are all recognised and approved by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE).
The STA Pool Life Guard programme holds QCA approval (Qualifications Curriculum Authority).

Ongoing Training
All Instructors and Examiners are moderated and updated on an annual basis for First Aid and a bi-annual basis for Lifeguarding by independent National Tutor’s from the STA. This ensures that the courses are always completely up-to-date with the latest changes at National and European levels.

	The Trainer
	Pearl Meldrum, the founder of Pearl Meldrum Training, has over 30 years experience of lifeguarding and first aid. Initially all lifesaving and first aid was done on a voluntary basis through clubs but is now a mandatory qualification within the leisure industry, and controlled by Health and Safety. As well as being a qualified instructor and examiner in all of the disciplines offered within, Pearl is also a National Tutor for the Swimming Tutor's Association or STA. This involves a great deal of quality assurance work, assessing and updating STA instructors throughout the country.
	Pearl has built up a reputation over the years throughout Scotland as a thorough and professional trainer and has developed a relaxed, but focused style of teaching. This allows students of all abilities and confidence levels to develop to their full potential, and still enjoy themselves in the process.

	Other Awards NARS Cross Awards are aimed at teenagers with a view to helping them develop swimming, survival and rescue skills. The bronze, silver and gold awards become progressively more difficult and give a sound grounding for the future professional lifeguard.
